Ciclo (Udenetun Productions)
This
Ep
is the second release of this Chilean
one man formed by Andres Rojas (aka
Üdenentun)
in 2004… Some of you will probably
remember
Úden’s
previous effort “Demo 2005” which
appeared at our pages back in these
days… Well, this
Ep
I’m reviewing right now, sounds like a
logic progression from this first demo,
embracing a more atmospheric and
incidental sound, but still maintaining
the wintry obscurity present at the
band’s earlier work. I still haven’t
found an accurate generic label for
Úden’s
music; the minimalist Dark Ambient
atmospheres mixed with some doomish
auras and blackened vibe result in bleak
and cold compositions where the strong,
minimalist and ambient influence of
Burzum present at the band’s previous
release, seems to have considerably
diminished in favour of a more personal
and slightly varied proposal. While
Úden’s
demo 2005 showed a visceral and
intuitive composition style, “Ciclo”
shows a much carefully and refined
sound; the accurate conjunction between
aural keyboards ambiances, piano-like
phantasmagorical cadences, dying,
pulsating drumming and droning guitar
riffs, creates unique atmospheres of
simple, dense and nightmarish obscurity…
Every single track this Cd-r contains
seems to be covered by an enigmatic and
disturbing veil, even the “brighter”
moments of this work sounds like
restrained by an invisible paranormal
bond… just listen to the fifth track
“Descansando en lo Inexorable”, one of
the most beautiful composition of this
work, at this track, even the subtle and
oneiric splendour can’t escape from the
impenetrable darkness, turning beauty
into perturbation and serenity into
insomnia… This work also contains two
re-arranged tracks from
Uden’s
first demo; “Angustia 2006” shows the
most rawer and droning side of
Uden
while “Resignacion 2006” sounds pretty
much in the same vein of the band’s new
composition style; atmospheric, obscure
and incidental… a perfect outro for this
interesting and potent work… “Ciclo” is
a strong and coherent release, full of
hypnotic obscurity and serious potential
that will certainly delight everyone
into the most ambient and minimalist
side of obscure music. (AP) |
