In our constant search for good Underground Black Metal, we found Riddle Of Meander, this Greek band, devoted to the most obscure and uncompromised sound, released their first demo “Pandemonic Holocaut” in January 2005 and the good response doesn’t take any longer… Actually, their second demo, ''Ancient Apocalypse'', is to be released… so be aware.

BB: First: Thanks for giving us this interview… Can you tell us about Riddle Of Meander beginnings?

RoM: The band was born in the dawn of 2003a.b. by me CHAOSFOROS and UNHOLY DESECRATOR. In the dusk of 2004 we summoned in our legion KERVEROS for the wardrums. SO everything was set for pure blasphemy.

BB: Though your band was formed back in 2003… you recorded your demo “Pandemonic Holocaust” in January 2005… Is there any work, any rehearsal or something you have recorded before “Pandemonic Holocaust”?

RoM: PANDEMONIC HOLOCAUST is our first demo. Also our second called ''ancient apocalypse'' is ready. So as you can see we covered these two years of
silence. We have some tapes with older material that we will use in the future.

BB: I was greatly impressed by the quality of your demo… how long took the composition and record process?

RoM: The record process took a few days only… the composition process was about less than a year for the material of our first manifestation.

BB: Are you satisfied with the final results?

RoM: yes I am satisfied with the results, and the only sure thing is that we are
becoming stronger and stronger every single day! THE WAR GOES ON…

BB: How has been the reception of “Pandemonic Holocaust” worldwide?

RoM: I can say it was very good. Greater thing to see that there are many true believers around this open grave called earth! For the rest we don’t care! Hate as we don’t give a fuck!

BB: Can you tell us what the lyrics talk about?

RoM: The lyrics have to do with the occult side of this life and beyond. The exaltation and worship of self, away from the superstitions of this mortal life. About the process to obtain the ancient wisdom that is well hidden into the fog of the past so only few can reach it…

BB: You told me your forthcoming demo is to be released in few months… Can you give us more details about it?

RoM: Our new manifesto called ''ancient apocalypse'' is ready!it contains two
cursed spells of grim, uncompromised BLACK METAL.

BB: Greece has always been a cradle of great underground bands… What about today’s Greek Metal scene? What underground Greek bands can you recommend us?

RoM: I don’t care about the scene generally. but there are some hellish hordes around here such as: Enshadowed, Aeolian  Fire, Faceless God, The Shadow Order.

BB: In the inlay cover of your demo you mentioned band such Darkthrone, The True Mayhem and Unholy Archangel among others… Are those your main musical influence? It seems you are influenced by the sound of Burzum, Varathron and Rotting Christ too… Am I right?

RoM: I like the demo from ROTTING CHRIST and the first works of VARATHRON, but I don’t thing that we have many things in common...As for BURZUM, I agree with you that there is this ancient aura in our works too.

BB: I really liked the incidental sounds of shrieking birds and growling wolves… Who decide to include those sounds?

RoM: It was my idea...I thing it is important.

BB: You seem to be very influenced by the early 90’s Black Metal scene… which was marked by many violent and bloody acts, like church burnings, grave desecrations and murders… Has Riddle Of Meander anything of this violent past?

RoM: I prefer to remain silent about this. We carry the darkness in every activity of our life.

BB: Let’s dig in the past a little… What’s your opinion of the Euronymous murder? I guess you must have an opinion about it… been a The True Mayhem fan…

RoM: It is a part of the history now and many years. My opinion won’t change anything...

BB: What’s your opinion about the “new” Mayhem? What do you think about the controversial “Grand Declaration Of War”?

RoM: I don’t follow the band since ''wolfs lair abyss''...

BB: What bands are you listening to these days?

RoM: Bands like: VOCIFERIAN, UTUK XUL,WAR,BLACK DEATH RITUAL,NORDMEN,CRAFT,IBEX THRONE...

BB: Can you tell us about the future plans of Riddle Of Meander?

RoM: A FULL LENGTH IS OUR FIRST TARGET.WE ALREADY WORKING ON IT. AND A 7 EP IS AN IDEA.WE WILL SEE...
