The first full length of No Hand
Path, entitled “An Existence Regained”
is one of the most impressive Black
Metal albums I’ve heard in quite a
while. This new Greek Black Metal act
delivers an innovative, yet aggressive
and obscure form of Black Metal of the
highest caliber. We contacted the band
in order to know more about this
upcoming act and its killer proposal.
Ramin (vocals) kindly accepted to answer
all our questions about this brand new
album, the band’s future plans among
some other topics… here are the results:

BB:
First I would like to congratulate you
for your killer album “An Existence
Regained”. It’s been a while since the
last time I heard such a powerful and
innovative work… For those who haven’t
heard to No Hand Path yet, how would you
describe your music?
Hello and thank you for your interest
and kind words. We too are really happy
with the album and many people seem to
have enjoyed it so far. For those not
familiar with our music I’d say that
they should check our stuff and find out
for themselves, as we were never able to
describe it really well. I would say
that it’s really close to black metal.
BB:
…By the way, can you tell us the meaning
behind the name “No Hand Path”? Does
this name have something to do with the
esoteric concepts of “the left hand
path” and “the right hand path”?
In a way, it is the denial of the left
hand path, the right hand path and very
organized/ patterned way of thought,
call it religion, family or whatever you
like. Every person should create their
own path.
BB:
Can you tell us about the band’s firsts
years of existence?
Nothing really interesting here.. We
created the band with Vassilis and
Antonis (guitarists) and Haris (drums)
and Sotiris (bass) helped us out in the
recording of our first demo. After that,
they became permanent members forming
the line-up we have today. With this
line-up we released our first Album
called “An Existence Regained”.
BB:
Your first demo “First Farewell”
contained three tracks that will lately
appear on “An Existence Regained”… Can
you tell us a little about “First
Farewell”? How you came up with this
demo? How was the audience response?
The demo recording process served us
mostly by providing us the experience we
were lacking and the bonding with the
rhythm section guys who were appearing
as guests at the time. A small amount of
copies was spread and the feedback was
really encouraging. The good thing is
that we were really satisfied with the
outcome.
BB:
After the recording of this demo No Hand
Path remained silent for almost five
years. What was the band doing during
these years?
We were simply creating the Album. It
took us so long to release it due to
several factors including our lack of
experience with DIY releases and the
fact that the members of the No Hand
Path live in three different countries…
BB:
“An Existence Regained” is a beautifully
complex album, both musically and
conceptually. How you came up with the
concept of this album? Can you tell us
about it?
The album is about the “rebirth” of a
human being and the evolution into a
greater Self, after the denial of
everything that keeps us enslaved. I
think it’s a pretty simple concept that
applies to the lives of most humans.
BB:
How was the composition process of this
album?
I’d say it all came naturally. Every
idea was considered, most of them were
rejected and every member of the band
contributed in his way to the final
result. The weird thing was that due to
the huge distances between us, we did
everything with the minimum rehearsals.
BB:
Your new album has received very good
reviews so far. Has this response
fulfilled your expectations?
We really like our album, and that’s
what matters the most. Having a great
deal of good reviews makes us feel
really good, but this isn’t the main
point.
BB:
Can you tell us what bands have
influenced the sound of No Hand Path?
We are influenced by many different
bands and music styles. Every member of
the band has his own favorites. I really
don’t want to name any particular metal
bands names here though, because I think
this would be restricting. We try to
sound like “No Hand Path”.
BB:
What bands are you listening to
nowadays?
Hmm… Lately I’ve been enjoying the old
Inquisition works again as well as a
mini LP that I really like very much:
Psalm II of Heresi. Also some Revenge
(CAN) stuff and the latest albums of The
One and Macabre Omen. You should
certainly check those.
BB:
What’s your opinion about the Black
Metal scene in Greece as of today? Is
there any underground band you would
like to recommend to us?
There are many bands in the genre today.
Some of them are really great, many of
them are total crap and most of them are
somewhere in the middle. Some bands I’d
recommend are the fore mentioned The One
and Macabre Omen, Agnes Vein, End,
Bohemian Grove and Death Metalers Dead
Congregation. There are many other
worthy bands though.
BB: When can we expect a new work from
No Hand Path (…and what can we expect
from it)? Have you made plans for that
yet?
There was a plan for a split 7’’ but I
can’t tell anything for sure. Currently
we are working on some new material
without having planned what we want to
do with it.
BB:
Can you tell us about the future plans
of the band?
There are no plans. We are just making
some new stuff and we’ll see where it
will get us.
BB:
Thanks for taking the time in answering
my questions. Is there anything else you
would like to add? These last lines are
all yours…
Thank you very much for your time and
support, we really appreciate it. Keep
digging for some decent efforts in
metal, there are many hidden treasures.
