Dry Our Fears (BadMoodMan Music)
“Dry Our Fears” is the only released
work at the time of this Ukrainian duo
formed back in 2000, this work was
actually self-released in the year 2005,
but this version is a limited reissue
under Solitude Productions sub-label
BadMoodMan Music… I have never heard
about this band until now, and I must
admit I’m very impressed by this work;
“Dry Our Fears” is an interesting slab
of obscure, My Dying Bride inspired,
Doom Metal. Even when there’s
practically no originality here, the
whole musicianship is completely
impressive and passionate; Necrotic
Trust uses several elements from the
mentioned British band but takes those
one step further towards a darker sound.
One of most remarkable and “original”
elements of this album is the vocal
work; Igor
Korzhov
only uses clean tones, pretty much in
the same vein of Aaron
Stainthorpe
(specially at works such “Like Gods Of
The Sun” or even “34.788%... Complete”)
reaching cathartic moments of desperate
sadness and hatred. The whole album
moves between thick and agonizing slow
passages and ornate mid paced parts,
always harmonized by obscure atmospheres
created by the magnificent conjunction
of the quite rustic guitar work and the
elaborated and macabre synthesizer
arranges that sometimes even includes
some unusual, yet accurate, electronic
effects (in the finest vein of
“34.788%... Complete”) with some really
good results. As I’ve already mentioned
the sound of Necrotic Trust, even when
evidently follows the mournful path of
My Dying Bride, seems to have left
behind some of the characteristic
chronic depression of the British band,
and focused in a more pronounced macabre
and evil-sounding approach… I would
really like to hear more about this band
in the future, there’s some strong
potential here, maybe in a future
release the band could detach its sound
form its evident influences and reach an
own stronger sound… Anyway, “Dry Our
Fears” still is a really good work and
if you enjoy the obscurest moments of My
Dying Bride you will certainly enjoy
this album, which is, by the way,
limited to 100 copies… so you better be
hurry if you don’t want to miss this
one. (AP) |
