Msilivhporcen (Self Released)
Lord
Of Pagathorn is a quite unknown Black
Metal band from Finland, that after the
release of a demo entitled “The Chaos
Spirit Among Us”, released in 1994,
remained silent until now, when
reappears with a brand new six-track
demo named “Msilihporcen”…Two of the
three members of this unholy band
militate in renowned underground acts
such Urn, The True Black Dawn and Maple
Cross, along with a considerable number
of less known Thrash and Black Metal
bands… “Msilihporcen” is a very thick
piece of old-school Black Metal, full of
strident and sharpened guitar driven
atmospheres complemented by a chaotic
sense of melodicism and a brutal
performance that tends to remind me to
the crushing proposal of Dark Funeral
with some of the epic sound of early
Satyricon at some passages. The vocal
work here (performed Corpselord and
complemented by the backing vocals of
Hellwind) is crude and infernal; mid
tone hellish shrieks are occasionally
accompanied by semi-clean, and even some
whispering voices, creating one of the
most demonic elements of the entire
demo. The drum work of Hellwind is
completely heavy and devastating, while
the bass work of Sedit is muscular and
punishing adding tons of weight and
tension to the infernal music of this
work… The whole demo is based over fast
paced tempos and intelligently composed
structures that, even when certainly
moves within the well defined parameters
of Black Metal, contribute here with
some variety and originality… The demo
production here is absolutely
remarkable; a balanced mix and a
powerful and clear sound become the
perfect complement sound for the
unmerciful, yet quite complex music this
demo contains. “Msilihporcen” is
actually an advance of the band’s
forthcoming first full length, entitled
“Nekros Philia”, which currently being
composed… let’s hope this new album
bring us more of the obscurity and
devastation shown at this excellent
demo. I don’t know when this new album
is planned to be released, so I
recommend you to try to contact the band
for a copy of “Msilihporcen”, if you are
a true Black Metal diehard, there’s no
way you can be disappointed by this
killer record. (AP) |
