Ea Taesse (Solitude Productions)
This probably
the most mysterious band in today’s Doom
Metal scene, there’s practically no
information about it in the net, the band’s
line up is completely unknown, no one know
when Ea was born, and there’re only
conjectures about its procedence (it
supposedly comes from the United States Of
America). Just to increase the mysterious
halo that surrounds this album (that’s, as
far as I know, its only release at the time)
Ea uses a dead language, basing its lyrical
content in sacred text from ancient
civilizations, unfortunately I don’t have a
fucking clue about the dead language used or
the civilization where it was taken from, so
I guess the lyrics on this album will remain
under the veil of mystery… at least for a
while. Well, the music this band delivers
has been labelled by many as Funeral Doom,
but I think “Ea Taesse” is more than just
that, although there’re undisputable Funeral
Doom traces, the emotive and, particularly,
the atmospheric elements seems to define the
whole album. The solemn, pompous and
magnificent keyboard driven atmospheres are
the foremost element, leaving in second
place the quite dense and crawling guitars,
the cadent drumming and the sporadic
growling vocal work, resulting in a highly
ethereal, oneiric and obscure opus. “Ea
Taesse” is, apparently, a single piece
divided in three movements, and clocked, as
a whole, in 55 minutes. The entire album art
is as enigmatic as the entire concept behind
this work, containing sober, dark, oneiric
and quite weird images. This album is
absolutely recommendable for those who enjoy
the grandiloquent and obscure atmospheres,
but if you are expecting an extreme Funeral
Doom Metal release you could be a little
disappointed, so I strongly recommend you to
listen to this work with open mind. (AP) |
