Pre Album Promotional CD (Self
Released)
This
band is a Brutal Death Metal project of
Hellaeon and Doomsayer, members of the
“Blackest” Black/Death Metal band in
Australia (and probably worldwide…)
Darklord. I must say they musical
approach, really impresses me, not THAT
much as Darklord, but pretty much
indeed! This work
consist of a compilation of three
separated works; the firsts three song
are from their Demo 2004, the following
three are from Studio Practice Demo 2004
and the lasts five songs are from their
Rehearsal 25/02/05. Musically this work
is huge piece of darkness and brutality.
The low vibrations created in this work
are only comparable with an earthquake.
The music flows at full speed, nebulous,
incredibly aggressive and, of course,
brutal. Their musical approach reminds
me the works of Death Metal demons such
Incantation, early Immolation and some
hints of Deicide, that is to say,
absolutely heavy and dark. The guitar
work is the main responsible for this
immense darkness, with fast, low and
blurry riffing that sometimes becomes
into an impenetrable wall of down tuned
noise. The drumming is extremely fast
but pretty legible. The voices are
incredibly low and guttural grunts with
some shrieks here and there, a little
low mixed in some passages, I don’t know
if it was intentionally or not, but I do
not discuss the results. There’s a
couple of interesting covers like
“Leprosy” (Death cover) and “Flag of
Hate” (Kreator cover), of course these
versions are executed in the Beyond
Mortal Dreams style, but the results are
indisputably good. That makes this work
even more interesting. The production in
this work is variable, because, as I
mentioned before, there are three
different works in this Cd, but I think
it’s OK (as I always said: A bad
production could, sometimes, improve the
atmosphere of the music), but if you are
expecting a crystal clear piece of
overdone Death Metal in the vein of the
US Death Metal styled bands (i.e. Hate
Eternal, Deeds Of Flesh, Suffocation,
etc…) you probably will be disappointed.
I think this band could easily transcend
the boundaries of Death Metal because of
their extremely dark sound that could
easily catch the attention of Black and
even Doom Metal listeners. So we just
have to wait for their official debut
and hope they maintain their brutal and
dark posture. (AP) |
