Voluntad De Poder (Tryrannus Records)

“Voluntad De Poder” is actually the first and only work at the time of this brutal Chilean Death Metal quintet. Despite of their short carrier (the band was formed in 2005) the band reaches here a remarkable musical level, delivering an extreme Brutal Death Metal, reminding me, at first listen, the sound of Incantation, especially in the ultra obscure aura that surrounds every track, but the structures reigning over this Ep, are complex, quite intricate, but never overdone, maybe the early sound of bands such Immolation or even Nile could be a better point of comparison. As you probably guess, at this point of the review, the vocal work here consist in low guttural grunts, delivering brutality and obscurity to the yet brutal context, while fast drumming and turbulent guitar riff delineate the entire disc’s atmospheres. Bellum bases its concept in a deeply patriotic vision, remarking the Chilean military history, although the track’s name are in Spanish and German, the lyrics are sung in English, except for the last track “Voluntad de Poder” which is completely sung in Spanish. This Ep consists in four tracks, each one is a remarkable piece, but, at least to me, the undisputable highlight is the fourth track “Voluntad de Poder”, not only because the excellent musicianship or the great and varied atmospheres, where the high speed massacre is broke by intense doses of mid to slow paced, passionate riffs, but because its inspired, surrealistically poetic and highly patriotic lyrics… this track completely blows my head off. “Voluntad de Poder” is a work that shows tons of talent, brutality and conviction… What else to say?  If you want a copy, contact Tyrannus Records at tyrannusrecs@gmail.com (AP)
