BAHIMIRON / TERATISM

Pact In Dizease & Profanation - Split Cd  (Graveless Slumber Records)

I received this Cd from the hands of Mr. Blaash; it contains the works of two Underground US Black Metal acts; Bahimiron and Teratism. The fist half belongs to Bahimiron, this blasphemous entity was conceived in the mid nineties, by Grimlord (ex-Imprecation), but due the lack of serious members, Mr. Grimlord had to wait until 2002, when JenOside (bass) and Blaash (drums) joined the band, only then Bahimiron waked up from its lethargy. Lately Krag Dagon also joined the band as a response to the necessity of a second guitar. After this short introduction, let’s talk about music; this first half of “Pact in Dizease & Profanation” is an amazingly chaotic and destructive piece of Black Metal. The music moves at full blast beats driven speed, with a fucking great guitar work; its electric and strident sound delineates the whole work creating a terrorist and chaotic atmospheres of total annihilation. The voices seem to be taken from the depths of hell, with raw, ripping and hellish shrieks; the dual vocal attack enormously contributes with the whole crude and chaotic sound. This half consist in five tracks, being the first one “Destroying Angel” just an intro, and the latest two tracks “Terror Division BloodStrike” and “Hunting Down The Weak” live recorded during the Summer Warfare show at August 28 2004, these two tracks are really undercooked and messy-sounding in comparison with the previous (yet crude sounding) tracks, but shows how destructive this band could be on the stage. The second half belongs to Teratism; this band, formed in 2001, delivers here, three obscure and somewhat mysterious Black Metal movements, played at, mostly, mid paced velocities with some occasional fast blasting passages, the drumming is quite intricate, with remarkable double bass parts and accurate mid paced passages. The vocals work is also remarkable, the infernal tone of Mr. Wrath is complete grim and macabre, there’s also a quite versatile voice at the last track “Nokturnal Enmity”, an invocation chant made by Lord Meister VolkeinBlucht (Volkeinblucht), that mixed with the slow and hypnotic riffing crates an obscure and mysterious aura. This band also shows certain quotes of technicism and some doses of melodicism, which becomes pretty evident at the seventh track “Necrofuge”, the most melodic piece of the entire disc, and at the same time, one of the obscurest and most arcane tracks as well. This band also includes a live track, but as video bonus, “Unholy Black Metal” is played with conviction and respecting the original evil aura of the original version… interesting detail. The whole production of this second half is pretty clear and good sounding, especially in comparison with the Bahimiron’s work (but unlike Bahimiron this band definitely requires a “best” production due their semi-technical performance). An anecdotic detail, all Teratism members were previously in Theatre Of The Macabre… (What a change!) “Pact in Dizease & Profanation” is a very good album, both bands shows their most unmerciful and blasphemous sides, creating a great split, worthy of any true underground Black Metal collection… by the way, the Cd is limited to 1000 copies, so be hurry.
