AYAT

Al Nabi Moujrem, Moughtaseb, Daijal (Sardonic Wrath Records)

Unholy Fuck!! This band, from Lebanon, delivers one of the most impressive and original (yes, original) Black Metal I have heard in a while, its mix of War Metal, Black Metal, Thrash, Grind and some slow, dense, obscure passages, creates impressive atmospheres, somewhere between the dirty and chaotic sound of bands such Conqueror, Revenge, Black Witchery, Von and the early 90’s Scandinavian phenomenon. “Al Nabi Moujrem, Moughtaseb, Dajjal” is a really varied work; its sounds ranges from noisy, raw, blast beats driven Black Metal, funeral paced, almost Doom parts and some climatic, somewhat atmospheric passages. The guitar work completely drives the bitter sound of Ayat; through its, ultra blurry and noisy sound, creates aggressive, ultra violent, holocaust-inspired atmospheres. The drumming is as versatile as the whole music, dealing perfectly with the wide range of velocities and structure’s changes. The vocal work is another remarkable point; ultra aggressive and obscure mid to high toned agonic screams adorns the apocalyptic vision of Ayat, there’re also some clean vocal at the second track “Asylum”, those are really bitter, suffered and depressed, this vocal passage adds an even more disturbing aura to the whole music. The production is quite raw and undercooked, but in this case, it only improves the musical concept of nihilism and misanthropy. This Ep consists in four tracks clocked at 17 minutes of pure nihilistic Black War Metal at its best… Strongly recommended (AP)
