Broken Bonds Of Balance 7" EP (Nuclear
Winter Records)
I’ve
got very few information about this
Greek Black Metal act. As far as I know,
this band, formed in Athens back in
2003, is actually a duo, formed by C.L.
and Fonus… This two-men-horde, delivers
at this Ep two sharpened pieces of the
finest Old School Black Metal with some
Deathspell Omega, Watain and, of course
Darkthrone hints… The music of
Acrimonious moves between mutilating mid
paced sections, very Darkthrone-sounding
but with some interesting, quite
“renewed” sound, a little more complex
but still cruel and raw. And fast paced,
blast beat driven Black Metal chaos!!
Where, once again the simple, but
sharpened guitar lines drive the music,
accompanied by a strong and notorious
bass work. The vocals are unholy mid
toned blackish shrieks adding one of the
most indisputable old school elements to
the whole macabre equation. One of the
most remarkable details of this
excellent release is the variety reached
by the band; the two tracks sound very
diverse, with excellent compositions and
quite complex structures, always into
the Black Metal parameters but never
monotone or remotely bored… I really
like how these demons conjugates the
ferocious rawness and the legible, but
still dark “melodies”, responsible for
the lugubrious and arcane atmospheres
that fills your speakers the twelve
minutes this Ep last… As the promo-sheet
said
“This material is too good to be
ignored” (AP) |
