From the unholy lands of Greece, this
extreme duo of Satanist has been
spreading darkness and perversity in
shape of Black Metal since 2003. Despite
of their relatively short carrier this
band has reached a solid position in
today’s underground Black Metal scene
with its raw and perverse style… So we
contacted the band and they accepted to
answer our questions regarding its
history, works and beliefs…

BB: First of all, thanks for giving us
this interview. Can you tell us shortly
about the band history?
The temple was raised in 2002. Its'
foundations are of aether and fire,
therefore they cannot blend with human
nature. Acrimonious was never a
breathing circle of individuals that
contributed to the further
solidification-expansion of its cause.
Therefore,
we are not a 'band', since we are not
based on collective contribution of
ideas.2 demo tapes and one 7'' ep are
our efforts so far.
BB: Despite of your short discography,
two official releases since 2003, your
band has become pretty well known in
underground circles worldwide...What do
you think about that?
I wouldn't give an affirmative nod or a
negative one regarding your
ascertainment. Nevertheless, seeing
through the eye of subjectivity, I would
comment that this recognition is very
natural. That which Acrimonious offer
comes in contradistinction with the
sterile offerings of the most bands
around. Comparison leads to a certain
preference, according to the degree that
certain expectations of the listeners
are fulfilled. We seem to contaminate
the minds of many effectively and
simultaneously be praised by the very
same poisoned personas. We do not think
about that. We just strive to increase
the potency of the poison that is
generously offered.
BB: The distribution of your material
seems to be extremely effective...How
you handle the whole distribution of
your material? Can you mention some
distros/labels you're involved with?
Salvation Distro was the best choice for
releasing Perdition Gospel (save the
tape version). Being newly established
we had to take a risk that could lead to
a non-effective collaboration, but facts
teared the initial veil of personal
doubts of mine. Moreover, :AJNA:/Fire Of
Fire will take care of every single
aspect of our forthcoming full-length, a
spiritual alliance that will certainly
lead to a better distribution worldwide.
BB: I've heard to "Broken Bonds of
Balance" (not the 7'' of course, but the
advance Cd, courtesy of Nuclear Winter
Records) and "Perdition Gospel" but I
missed "Unholy Cult Demonic"... Can you
tell us about this first demo? I
understand it was a limited edition of
500 copies... Is there any way of
getting this tape?
"Unholy Cult Demonic" was conceived
during a period of uncertainty or better
said, the seed had already been planted
but if compared with the vast heights of
the death tree from whence these phrases
are uttered today, every comparison is
invalid. There is a possibility to dig
the tape out somewhere, but I'd suggest
searching for material spawned
afterwards.
BB: By the way... Why you decided to
change the name of your forthcoming 7''
ep from "The Dawn Of Horns" to "Broken
Bonds of Balance"?
Every aspect of this rather
multifaceted/multifarious matter is
crowned with some dialectic assumptions
that forced us to change the title.
"Broken Bonds of Balance" hints the
coming of a certain... imbalance. A
cosmic spasm that shall establish the
aeonic silence through non static
changes. In a sense "The Dawn of Horns"
could very easily adopt the same ending,
as for us, the Dawn of Horns is the
coming of Chaos. What initially would
serve as a representation of the afore
mentioned chaotic non-state via direct
brain stimulations (pictures->fantasy)
was cast aside for something more
symbolic yet for us more specific since
our ideas were presented in a clearer
way(voluntarily), but could appear as
strange to a uninitiated person.
BB: When this Ep will be finally
released?
When Nuclear Winter Recs.
move their lazy asses.
BB: I have heard about a bootleg split
with Bestial Raids and Zygoatsis,
released under Sick Chainsaw Records in
2005...I've been looking for it, or at
least info about this work, but I
haven't found anything. Can you tell us
about it?
This 3-way split project ended up as a
practical joke. The final product could
never prepare the listener about our
modus operandi or our music, being full
of sound distortions during our tracks.
Moreover the lyrics where missing from
the booklet, something that nobody ever
cared to notify me about. The label did
not repress the damaged cd's and didn't
ask for compensation from the pressing
factory, and they subsequently dared to
release that crap. Acrimonious have
nothing to do with what is known as
''The unholy unification...'' split cd.
Our music serves as a portal to the
abyss, and if used correctly it can
alter the consciousness of the listener,
thus opening wormholes of madness and
death... but when it comes to this
particular release, the only thing the
listener can open is his garbage can in
order to dispose his copy, as I besides
did with the 50 cd's I received of this
insulting compact disc. The reason why
you didn't really find anything around
concerning this release is maybe because
we openly boycotted the label and the
product.
BB: How has been the reception of
"Perdition Gospel"? Are you satisfied
with the final results of both released
formats (Mcd and tape) of this work?
PG continues to receive very positive
comments. A./Dead Congregation did a
splendid job with the visual
abominations of the tape, so yes, I'm
more than satisfied.
BB: "Perdition Gospel" is a very
suggestive title...Is there, as the
title may suggest, any concept behind
this Mcd?
There's not a concrete concept behind
the PG lyrics. They are poems of a
sinister direction aiming to describe
ultimate Ideas, the way they merge,
expand and manifest inside and outside
ourselves. Music and lyrics are an
equally important paragon for they
spring from the very core of my soul,
but the actual praise of the sources
that we are subservient to -which is the
most important-is given through verbal
formations. Those that we have come up
for the upcoming full-length I am very
proud of, and allow me to say that they
are some of the best lyrics ever written
in the BM history. The "Perdition
Gospel" ones are both oppositional and
descriptive (one could say to the degree
of being narrative), mostly adopting a
mundane frame of negative
emanations
from the beyond rather than focusing on
the emanations themselves. To put it
straight, we did focus on earthly malice
(with the exception of some visionary
parts) instead of exploring the vast
depths of the chaotic force that the
Devil is
(something that will change in the
future). We are subservient to the dark
forces, blend with them and are consumed
by them only to be exalted beyond the
barriers of life and causality.
BB: My favourite track from "Perdition
Gospel" are "The Curse of Eden", because
if its intense lyrics, and "Gospel of
Perdition" because its dark and
lugubrious atmospheres...Have you any
favourite track from this Mcd? Can you
tell us why?
I view every song of Acrimonious as
something unique and one of a kind. When
we compose we strive to create the best
BM possible, so every single riff should
foremost cause trembling sensations to
ourselves and every song should feel
complete and perfect. I understand that
the dark power that is channelled
through our compositions has a different
impact on each individual, and that
people have their own preferences, but
for me they are all sonic tremors that
do threaten to distort the universal
harmony. Black metal is nothing else
than Magical incantations that if
performed correctly WILL destroy.
BB: You're clearly a Satanic Black Metal
band; I would like to know your opinion
about Satanism?... do you think it is
basically to worship the Devil... or to
find a personal way far from the
Judeo-Christian dogmatism?
Satan resembles with a double-edged
sword. It is both a chariot that leads
to the portals of truth and a fearsome
beast that shall devour those who are
trapped within the confined limits of
reason.
It is nothing but the womb from whence
every harmful principle and energy
unleashes its wrath. We fight, and
despise every form of solar cult, yet
our intention is not oppositional but
destructive.
We do worship dark archetypes, yes,
spiritually mentally and physically.
Satanism is a path for those who
aknowledge their predatory dark essence
and seek to unite with the forces hidden
therein by transcending their human
nature. Every other attempt to
characterise chaos is therefore
invalid and will be treated
accordingly.
BB: Can you tell us about the actual
underground Greek Black Metal scene?
Your sense of humour is astonishing
indeed.
BB: Many underground bands/labels loathe
the Mp3 format...What's your opinion
about Mp3's? Do you think it's a valid
promotion tool?
Musical art is something I experience.
Every sense should be active and
stimulated during the listening process.
Mp3's is a medium that could reflect the
Western ethos and man as a whole, being
superficial, void of meaning, insight
and passion. Once music loses its
ritualistic feeling it becomes futile,
while real art is eternal. Separating
music from the visual aspects is like
watching a Japanese movie without
subtitles; You can certainly have an
opinion on the aura it transmittes, the
intensity and the diverse angles of the
cameraman but you can't have a clue
about the actual scenario (except if you
are a Japanese yourself).
Being grounded by invisible realistic
mind-interventions...I could
listen to an MP3 only in order to
instantly reject a project or to give
them a chance if I like what I hear.
BB: Talking about formats...What's your
favourite music format?
I prefer vinyl because they maximize the
afore mentioned states-feelings.
BB: When you plan to releases new
material of Acrimonious?
All material that will be included in
our first full length album namely
"Purulence" has already been conceived.
It is a matter of time to enter a studio
in order to give birth to the
abominations hidden beneath its
structures and vibrations. Rev. Kriss
Hades will handle the artwork.
BB: Thanks once more for your
time...These last lines are completely
yours.
Fuck off, we murder.
